Some of the things to see and do, in and around Longford
Splash Park
We are thrilled with our newest addition to the town park! The Splash Park was first opened in August 2014. Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 10am to sunset
2015 marks the 60th Anniversary of the Longford Rodeo. Held every Labor Day weekend, this 2 night PRCA rodeo never fails to draw large crowds from far and wide. Take the trip and come enjoy a night out at the Longford Rodeo.
Kansas offer residents and non-residents alike the opportunity to enjoy the hunting and fishing seasons by offering Walk In Hunting/Fishing Areas. The Kansas Wildlife, Parks & Tourism site has excellent maps to show these areas, as well as outlets to buy any necessary permits.
The Smith Buffalo
Titled by some as the “Smithalo” the 60-ton rock, concrete & steel monument, measures 23 ft. long and 15-¼ ft. high. It pays tribute to the American bison or buffalo, and was constructed by brothers, Ray O. and Chester Smith in 1977 & 1978. The dedication on July 2, 1978, was attended by 3,000 guests. It is located 7 mi. southwest of Longford in eastern Ottawa County, Kansas.
